Made it at last!

John:  Wow! what a journey... I felt *SO* bad for Karen and the kids for the delays (thank you, Atlanta) and the train journey from Heatherow to Manchester airports. I have to say how accepting the kids were, being, as they were, dragged around London and shoved, bodily, from train to train, ALL with our carry on cases.  Oh! what joy it was to finally reach our destination and *MY MOTHER* AAAAARRGH!

Today I forced the poor unsuspecting Ameri-clan to "the old folks home" to see dad.  Karen managed to keep him amused for the whole hour and, again, the kids sat quietly and only *thought* about slitting their wrists.  They WERE excited to see one of Britian's most elusive of animals (sheep) on their way to a near drowning in Redcar (we went to see the grey frozen sludge known as the North Sea) and, yes, it rained frozen water.  Good call on the raincoats, Karen!  Oh yes! the scarves, hats and gloves were handy too!  Karen does seem to have the measure of MUM and has not lost her sanity, as yet (but, it HAS only been a day).

If tomorrow we can see more than 3 feet, we will go to Whitby and for a drive across the moors (and sheep) to see where Dracula landed in England (with sheep) and the Abbey (and possibly sheep). As you, jolly reader, may have gathered, the Ameri-clan would like to see sheep and *I* have YET to deliver.  Oh well! tomorrow is another day.

  1. John, that problem is exactly the one I have when visitors here want me to *show them an Indian*. They are usually around everywhere, I tell them. Really!
