Brrrrrr!

We are about latitude 54 (ish) which, for the North Americans reading, is NORTH of CALGARY, Alberta, Canada!  And I have only one word for the weather:  Oh. My. God.  It is the stuff through which you tuck your chin down, lean slightly forward, and GO!  And hopefully to a warmer, drier place.  Whitby was gorgeous -- but one could appreciate this better in the Spring or Summer (but then I understand it is hard to get parking).  It is, I understand, a Yorkshire tradition to bitch about the weather, and NOW I KNOW WHY.

The Abbey ruins were absolutely amazing.  in the US, one would be prohibited from going ANYWHERE NEAR the ruins because the school children would scratch their initials into the limestone -- but partly because the weather was so nasty, there was not another soul around & we frolicked (for about 30 seconds) about the ruins . . . and here's proof:

And then back to John's mom's.  The BIG news is that Isaac & John are going off to see a movie that won't come out in the US until tomrrow -- this has Isaac *all* excited about Europe now.
